How Vein Doctors Sydney collects, uses, discloses and protects personal and health information.
Last updated: October 2026
Vein Doctors Sydney is the vein practice of Dr Ryan McConnell, interventional radiologist. We are committed to protecting the privacy of people who visit this website, contact the practice or receive care from us. This policy explains how personal information may be collected, held, used and disclosed through veindoctorssydney.com.au, through contact with the practice, and through the website, booking, enquiry, analytics and advertising services we use.
Personal information, including health information, is handled in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), as well as applicable NSW health privacy requirements.
Depending on how you use the website or the practice, we may collect and hold:
Please avoid sending highly sensitive or urgent medical information through general website forms or ordinary email unless we ask for it. Website forms should not be used for medical emergencies.
We generally collect personal information directly from you when you contact the practice, complete a website form or the online vein assessment, book an appointment, attend a consultation or receive treatment. Where appropriate, information may also be received from your referring doctor, other healthcare providers, hospitals, diagnostic imaging or pathology providers, Medicare, private health insurers, a person you have authorised, or others involved in your care.
Some technical information is collected automatically when you use this website, through cookies, analytics and similar technologies.
Personal information may be used where reasonably necessary to:
We do not sell personal information.
Health information is sensitive information and is handled with particular care. We generally collect health information with your consent where it is reasonably necessary to provide a health service to you.
Health information may be used or disclosed for purposes directly related to your care where you would reasonably expect it, including communication with your referring doctor and other members of your treating team. It may also be used or disclosed where you have consented, or where required or authorised by law.
Contact, telehealth, referral and assessment forms. These forms are part of this website. What you enter is stored in the website’s secure database and sent by email to the practice so we can respond. If you complete the online vein assessment, your answers and result are also emailed to the address you provide.
Free guide form. The form for requesting our free guide is provided by HighLevel (also known as GoHighLevel), a customer relationship and communications platform. The details you enter, such as your name and email address, are stored in the practice’s HighLevel account and may be used to send you the guide and related emails. HighLevel is based in the United States (see section 12). Its privacy policy is at www.gohighlevel.com/privacy-policy.
Online booking. Online appointments are booked through HealthEngine. When you book, the details you give HealthEngine are passed to the practice to manage your appointment. Any booking deposit is paid through HealthEngine, and we do not receive your full card details. HealthEngine handles your information under its own privacy policy, available on its website.
This website uses Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand website traffic and measure the performance of our advertising. These services may collect information through cookies and similar technologies, subject to your settings. Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
This website also uses the Meta Pixel, provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., the operator of Facebook and Instagram, to measure the effectiveness of advertising on those platforms. These tools may share technical information with Meta and Google, such as your IP address, browser and device details, a cookie identifier, the pages you visit on this website, and the fact that you made a booking or submitted a form. We do not send the content of your messages, your online assessment answers or details of any health condition to Google or Meta. Meta’s privacy policy is at www.facebook.com/privacy/policy, and you can manage how Meta uses information for advertising through your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
We use Microsoft Clarity, provided by Microsoft Corporation, to understand how visitors use the website, for example by recording clicks, scrolling and mouse movements on our pages, so we can improve them. Microsoft’s privacy statement is at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
We also use call tracking from CallRail. The website may show a different phone number depending on how you found us, so we can see which pages and advertising lead to calls. CallRail receives details of calls to those numbers, such as the caller’s number and the time and length of the call.
Some pages show content from other websites, such as our Instagram feed. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited the other website, which may collect information about you, use cookies and track your interaction with that content, particularly if you are logged in to that website.
If you submit an enquiry, booking or other form through this website, the information you provide will be used to respond to you and, where relevant, to help arrange your care.
Email, SMS and online communications are not always completely secure. Please do not rely on a website form, email or SMS for urgent medical concerns. If you need urgent medical attention, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.
This website uses cookies and similar technologies, including those provided by Google and Meta, to make the website work, understand how visitors use it, measure performance and help measure advertising. These technologies may collect information such as device type, browser, IP address, pages viewed, the referring website and how you interact with the site.
You can usually control or turn off cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the website may then not work as expected.
Personal information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to provide your care, run the practice, respond to enquiries, maintain the website or measure advertising. Depending on the circumstances, recipients may include:
We do not sell personal or health information.
Some of our technology, enquiry, analytics, communications and cloud providers may store or process information outside Australia. For example, HighLevel, Google, Meta, Microsoft and CallRail are based in the United States, and information handled through their services may be stored or processed in the United States or other countries where they or their sub-processors operate.
Where Australian privacy law requires it, we take reasonable steps in relation to the overseas handling of personal information. Contact us if you would like more information about the arrangements relevant to your information.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information may be held in electronic practice systems, clinical records, secure cloud services and, where necessary, paper records.
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for its purpose and to meet legal, professional and clinical record-keeping obligations. Where permitted and appropriate, information that is no longer needed is securely destroyed or de-identified.
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first. In some circumstances access may be limited or refused where the law allows.
Where lawful and practicable, you may deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym, for example when asking a general question. It will generally not be practicable to provide a consultation, treatment, Medicare billing or coordinated care without identifying you.
If you have a concern or complaint about how your personal information has been handled, please contact us using the details below. We will review it and respond within a reasonable time.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au for information about your privacy rights and complaint options.
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the website, our clinical or administrative practices, technology, service providers or legal obligations. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
