Ambulatory phlebectomy is a less invasive surgical technique used to remove superficial varicose veins through multiple small incisions in the skin. Ambulatory phlebectomy is highly effective in providing cosmetic results and relief from large bulging surface veins.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and is able to be performed in an outpatient setting in our custom-built clinic. Patients are able to return to normal activities immediately post-procedure, with the exception of strenuous exercise for 2 weeks.
The procedure takes approximately 1-2 hours.
Treatments are followed by the application of compression stockings, which must be worn for approximately 2 weeks post-procedure.
2 weeks post-procedure, patients will be reviewed in clinic to assess the progress of their recovery. An ultrasound will be performed to exclude the very small risk of deep vein thrombosis.
This consultation is the perfect way for you to learn about what we can do to help you become free of the pain and discomfort of your varicose veins. From start to finish a consultation takes about 45 minutes and the valuable information you will receive will enable you to make important healthcare decisions about your varicose veins.
